but it's so nice that our VP has so much leisure time on his hands while Katrina victims don't. maybe he could spend his leisure time helping others harmed by political nonsense

Man wounded in accidental shooting said to be ‘alert and doing fine’

Updated: 3:56 p.m. ET Feb. 12, 2006

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot and injured a man during a weekend quail hunting trip in Texas, his spokeswoman said Sunday.

Harry Whittington, 78, was “alert and doing fine” after Cheney sprayed Whittington with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong.

Armstrong said Cheney turned to shoot a bird and accidentally hit Whittington. She said Whittington was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon.
This breaking story will be updated.

well, the injured man should sue him for $2.6 trillion dollars  I'll bet the money would show up quickly.

tamra,
What's funny, is the guy that was shot was treated by the "emergency treatment team that travels with the Vice President"!!! This dude can't travel without an ambulance because he's always a slice of bacon away from a heart attack.
"Mr. Vice President we're going to have to take our eyes off of you for a few minutes... chew this bottle of asperin until we can begin following you again. Oh yeah... we need to borrow your EKG machine, try not to die... and don't pull an Aaron Burr by peeling Representative Delay's cap... we're kind of busy."
Now that Johnnie's gone, I guess I should start being nice to the cops.

astonamous,

OOH MY GAWD! Sarah Brady said that? wow, I guess the feeling is mutual even amongst his "peers"

robfharris,

if we eliminate the costs of his 24 hour watch medical expenses alone and divert those funds to kickstarting a city like say ooooh New Orleans back to recovery @.@, New Orleans would be back on its feet in 20 minutes!

deepseas,

 I seriously thought it'd be someone else shot like Libby. and hell, the scope may also have been made by Haliburton or a friend

but check this out, even though it was only pellets, say Cheney had done so much damage the guy later died from the pain causing stress and heart failure

would Cheney have been charged w/manslaughter?

probably not given the incident happened in Texas and on the property of folks waiting on more presidential kickbacks in the future.

but anyone else in Texas in that same situation would be under criminal investigation pending charges right about now.

deepseas,

well it's all over. Cheney-Dick visited whatever his name is in the hospital, told him to "Go Fuck Yourself" and the situation became officially over. because everyone knows that's how you diplomatically handle situations as a Vice President of the U.S.

   now that's funny. a no-win situation all around

but check this out, something good may come out of this, unless PETA members start getting hunted down as well

PETA is taking aim at Dick Cheney.

The high-profile animal-rights group has sent a letter to the vice-president, who accidentally shot a lawyer while the two men were quail hunting.

“I hope that the man you mistook for a quail is doing well. I also hope that this brush with tragedy will convince you to rethink your recreational activities,” PETA president Ingrid Newkirk wrote in a letter to Cheney obtained by The Scoop. She went on to suggest that Cheney “put down your guns and pick up a tennis racket” — which, she adds, would be better for his heart.

“Mr. Cheney, there is so much violence in the world that is beyond our control,” Newkirk concluded, “but you can avoid hurting innocent animals (and well-connected lawyers) by putting down your guns and taking up a nonviolent sport.”

well you know what he will just tell them: Go Fuck Yourself! @.@

but should it surprise PETA that a man like him would have a violent hobby. what life has he saved in the past 6 years? definitely not those driving trucks for Haliburton in Iraq @.@

well you knew the jokes were coming. :D

From Craig Ferguson - The Late Late Show
"The big scandal apparently is that they didn't release the news for 18 hours. I don't think that's a scandal at all. I'm quite pleased about that. Finally there's a secret the vice president's office can keep."

deepseas,

yeah I just heard the guy he shot had a heart attack. if the guy dies, Cheney-Dick may just have to step down. how much more can he embarass himself?? if he was drinking, shooting illegally, and whole lot of other wrongs, it just adds to the other wrongs already in investigation/criminal progress
