I've just come back from the last meeting today (as the project goes live this week). I was asked by an old English Professor about what influences me (I'm a spoken word artist/presenter) in my writings. I replied that I try to read around the subjects that I want to cover so that I have an informed opinion on them. I cited the example from Pryor Convictions where Richard spoke of a conversation (early in his career) that he'd had with Groucho Marx who was trying to advise him to read more to broaden his perspective. An example of this manifested itself perfectly in his "Sunset Strip" monologue about travelling to Africa, where he gave a direct reference to the works of anthropologist Dr Leekey who he had been reading. In fact one of the reasons why I rate Pryor above all the others, is because that even in his dumbest of jokes his sharp intellect always shines through.
Nevertheless, the Professor was impressed and the meeting continued. Once it was over, and everyone had left the room he pulled me aside. This elderly refined English gent, grey hair, classic spectacles and an old-fashioned suit, whispered to me in a low voice, "I've got a lot of his albums you know". He then proceeded to sing in his immaculate upper-class posh English accent, "I'M MACHO MAN.....I DON'T GIVE A FUCK IF YOU COME OR NOT.....I'M MACHO MAAAAAAN!!!"
Fuckin' Classic!!! Thank You Richard!!!

Peace gee
