On another thread you said you are gonna be at 'Laugh Factory' and 'La Casa Latina' on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Isn't Laugh Factory in the LA area at least?
I wanted to come to the show, bum rush you when you walk out, bust you upside the head with "the Club" for talking so much shit about me and then write a bad review of your show.
I rolled up to the club on Pico. Right at that corner west of the Union club there was police tape, police, a bunch of nigga's in cornrows (and what says "da hood" better than niggas in cornrows) verbally assaulting a small asian man.
I think it was a car accident. Not a murder, thank almighty god, because the police cleared the tape right away and everyone involved bounced. I thought that the club was right there at first but saw that farther down there were white people (I was never so happy to see white people) standing in front of what I hoped to be the comedy club. It was.
And now a review of SMLJMCOMIC's performances. Sorry, Dumbasses--I mean Dumbass-- but I got to get my negativity on and out of the way. The two comics after Shawn and the emcee (Adam Something) were just like the wind in Chicago and Monica Lewinsky. They blew hard. Hey, if you think that joke was bad, you shoulda seen their sets.
Shawn was good, y'all....a bit nervous, but good. He is kinda of a quirky comic like an offensive Seinfeld or Steven Wright. I'm not saying he is like them, just in that vein. Like you would say DL Hughley is more in the vein of Richard Pryor than Steve Martin. A sample of Shawn's stuff: He talked about going to the Special Olympics for kicks at how some of the participants in the race keep going straight as the track curves. Easy target Shawn!
When Shawn walked off stage he was so pumped that he kept walking past me as I tried to flag him down. I had to chase his ass down backstage (backroom). When I introduced myself he started CHOKING ME! I had to run. I saw him again outside before I left. He must have let out all his rage, (on my neck) because he was calmer.
I was laughing on my way home about what Shawn said about that Darrel guy. He (Darrel) reminded me of the comedian Steve White. (and that nigga's nowhere to be seen!) I could imagine him coming off stage and going backstage (actually back room), all full of himself walking past folks.
I was sitting with a (fine) sista who came to the show to see Steve--uh, I mean Darrell Carter. This woman met him at a party and he told her to stop by the club to see his act. She had better shit to do, because she had to leave right after his act. But when he did his rounds to visit his friends before the show, he hardly stopped a beat to acknowledge her. Maybe it was because she was sitting with me and he thought I was her man? Hmmm, on second thought who can blame him for leaving her, for who can compete with Tee?
But you were right Shawn, your set did get more laughs than Darrel Carter's.
Most of the comedians were good that night, besides the three I mentioned... I didn't see the last comic the sista, though. If I'd had known it was a sista, i woulda stayed.
Yeah, I was watching the door for Jen and Vee. Scopin'. They finally arrived and both looked good. They missed the emcee's opening set (They did the right thing, they aint miss shit except for one painful act! He was on for what seemed like twenty minutes y'all, it was painful) and they missed the first comedian (he was good).
MisterTee,
That's saying alot after he told you that your skit you posted "sucked" awhile back .I figured you would have took the opportunity to trash his ass back. But I appreciate that you kept it real with your review!
Man,what happened last night why didn't you holla at Jennifer and try to make amends? Anyways I'm glad everything worked out for everybody!
I went to Zimbabwe. I know how white people feel in America now; relaxed! Cause when I heard the police car I knew they weren't coming after me!
You are fucking funny ! I really enjoyed myself last night. I wouldn't worry about that Darrell Carter fellow if I were you. He was an angry fellow when he walked in. I saw him him when I was outside the place. He had attitude from the very beginning. Plus, I think that the energy changed when folks learned that Jennifer Lee Pryor was in the audience. That wasn't until maybe the third comedian into the show. It was deep for me to see. It was great to see these comedians put some fire into their game..I could totally see the change.
Amazing. I was glad I was able to see such a tranformation.
SMJ- you are a very courageous comedian. You made me laugh....you are edgy!!! You can make a nigga shy!
