Was surprised at how much I enjoyed this flick!! Good family movie.The little girl did a great job in it,Larry....I mean Laurence has come along since "Earl, Cornbread, and Me", Angela Bassett looking good, and it always surprises me to see Curtis "Booger" Armstrong (from 1984's "Revenge of the Nerds") play a serious role!!

yeah, but seeing Angela and Laurence together, I kept waiting to hear "nah, goddamnit Akeelah I need you to spell the word like I told you to...you tryna to help Larabee?! YOU tryna help Larabee?!!"

but Curtis was also in Ray. playing Ahmet (can't remember last name), Ray's original producer.

Yep that role for "Booger" in Ray surprised me too...especially when I heard his voice on an episode of "American Dad" Sunday....

But yeah when they finally made the screen together it was tense....

I'll always remember him from Risky Business. "sometimes you just gotta say what the fuck" ;p I almost got kicked outta school behind that shit. they didn't say "don't you say it", it was over emphasized to say it.

Check it out...really good flick...a guy in the audience made everyone laugh cause the last shot of the film show fishburne and bassett together (He yelles out, "This is Ike n Tina!" People cracked up! But check it out it needs our support
