I've finally got around to watching the "Richard Pryor Show" I gotta thank god for DVD's and re-releases. I've heard about this show, read about this show and spoken to relatives who can barely remember the show. Now at last, I can watch it over & over to my hearts content.
I gotta give TMIC props (once again) the show is an amazing work of art! I admit that some parts are very dated, but some sketches are still right on point. I'm amazed that he got so many political messages out past the censors. What I really like on the DVD are all the extras and improvs that are special features. I love it when he talks about nbc and says "Muthafukkas didn't cancel me....I'm gettin out!"
Once again, thanks to Jennifer for lettin' a whole new generation of folks experience the magic of Richard Pryor. That show must've been the best thing on TV for the whole decade, cos it still whips the cowboy-shit outta most of the prime-time shows today in terms of content!
Keep up the good work!
Peace gee

Re: The Richard Pryor Show
Mister Gee,
This was the first time I got to see Mr. Pryor in action. I had heard the albums but had never really seen him before.
I remember watching my dad almost choke to death on half a bologne sandwich during the bit about a back to Africa movement, sadly the prick coughed it up but for one moment there my love reached heights never known.
Hope to pick this up soon as I'm a lot like those you mentioned who don't remember a lot of it, but I remember my friends and I were real happy about it.
