I was flipping thru the channels late last night/early this morning and saw Robin Williams being interviewed about some new movie, "Robots" I think it's called. Anyways, the guy was asking him about comedians he saw in the mid to late 70's in the Los Angeles area when he was first starting out in comedy. He mentioned guys like Leno, Letterman and a few others were there, but he singled out Richard as being the greatest he ever saw. He talked like he was in awe and speechless when he saw Richard performing. Richard was that good!
A few minutes later, the interviewer asked who he idolized/looked up to before he entered show business. He mentioned Jonathan Winters and another guy whose name escapes me at the moment, but then he referred back again to Richard and heaped loads more praise on him. I wish I had the exact dialogue of that interview. It was on about 3 am, and I tried googling for it to no avail.
To make a long story short, it was great hearing Robin talk about Richard in such a reverent manner!
