Hi,
As long as i can remember i love everything Richard does. The comedians here in Holland never appealed to me... Richie was the man! And whenever i mentioned the name to my friends you'd see eyes light up and smiles would appear on their faces. Whenever somebody didn't know the name we would show them 'Live on Sunset boulevard' or 'Here and Now' and a new fan was born. This was in the second half of the eighties...
A couple of days ago i saw 'Sunset' again with my 13 year old nephew and now he won't stop talking about it to his friends in school. He memorized the entire show and performs it for his friends during the breaks. Now Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy are just 'Richard the Next Generation' to them. A new generation of fans is born. RICHIE IS STILL THE MAN!!
The comedy of Richard is timeless and it is still an example and an inspiration to young people and it makes them want to be a comedian, even here in Holland.
I would like to thank you Richard for brightening our lives with your work.
Holland loves Richard !

r3dh34d,
I love that story and hope you come back often. Your nephew has great taste in comedy. So who's the big Holland comedian there? Harald Schmidt? No, wait he's german. Does that count?

mojones,
some good dutch comedians nowadays are Hans Teeuwen, Jochem Myer, Bert Visscher... All three very explosive personalities on stage that say whatever they want about whoever they want (kinda like Richard) and they're hilarious. And NO germans don't count... germany is like a whole different world.
I think it's too bad that dutch comedy can't be viewed by everyone, cause not everyone understands dutch...
it is usually a good way to check out what's goin on in a country cause the regular media don't give a complete view (most of the time they give a completely wrong view of a country and it's people)
