Um so after this episode:

the season 3 opener is about the entire family heading across country to FLORIDA. 
so I guess writers and actors forgot about Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis and all the racist jackasses who applauded deaths of unarmed persons or even Marissa Alexander who served time for a warning shot.
