smjmcomic,
 when I first read the title of your post, I thought you might have been reffering to a different type of "head shots".

smjmcomic,

From what I understand they are about $300, but that's in NYC money...

If you want to be recognized (ie. your shit is funny) they are important.

smjmcomic,

If you have a digital camera maybe you could set something up cheap. If you don't like it, delete it. Just take a shitload of em. Or just ask the waitress a your local diner where she got hers done and if the guy was any good...

smjmcomic,

Headshots can run from 200 - 1000 depending on who shoots them. It ususally takes a couple of weeks to get everything done. I have a friend out in LA who does headshots. His website is www.cortesphoto.com. Maybe he could do a rush thing for you.

Check out the site, and if you like the shots, give him a call.

smjmcomic,

I'm very surprised that no one has talked about headshots with you as of yet. Do you have an agent or a manager?

Headshot in the commercial /theatrical world are very important. They're your calling cards. It's very unprofessional to show up to an audition without one. In all honesty, it will show how "green" you are in the business.

From a business point of view-get a headshot done. If you haven't done it already- get a digital camera and take some photos. To get a bonafide moment- have someone on the other side of the camera with the photographer that makes you laugh. It could be your dog or your girlfriend....anything that makes the moment real. It works dude............Casting Directors are only looking for the real you. They need you to make the story real. The best thing a actor can offer a part is themselves.....Did you do your pics yet????

Get a actor to take your photo...a seasoned actor. They know what to "shoot" for. Comedian or not..........

Jim Mendrinos,

200-1000- really? Honestly, If you ain't a model, I think that anything over 2....ok 250 is too much. Especially these days...when everything is a colored photo online (LA Casting) A digital camera will work magic with anyone who can handle it.

Also SM- just know as a rule of thumbs....your first set of headshots always suck!!!!!!!!!!! Don't tfake it personally-LOLOL
