Appalled at American Idol

Im going to need therapy if Fantastic Fantasia gets eliminated. Trying to compare Fantasia to literally any other person on that show is like trying to compare Richard Pryor to anyone who has ever done comedy. No such possibility. There was only one winner from the first night she took the stage over and there is only one winner now. Anyone care to disagree? Oh yeah, props to latoya, jennifer, leah, and george for honorable moments. What the fuck is wrong with America? Besides, that bush is president?

smjmcomic,
Let's just face it. Talent is not needed in today's society. Hung is a novelty. I'm just glad his name is william and not "Dick." The "singers" that are out there today are marginally talented to put it mildly. Nobody is willing to develop talent anymore, you are either a hit, or you're through. That is why they look for someone who will look good on a CD cover, then try to mask the fact that they can't sing in production by stealing samples from old songs. I can't stand music today...
Think of all the classic groups & singers that would never have made it today because it took them a while to get going. The O'Jays, Prince, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, Spinners, Luther Vandross.
There are too many to name. All of those artist/acts took a few years to get going. Even some that were huge hits to start may not have even got the chance. If Aretha Franklin got her start today, would she have been so big? (no pun intended) Probably not, because she never had the face to sell a CD today like Beyonce...

JTF,
This idol situation says so much to me. For starters "American Idol" represents America. It claims that we do the voting. This is "our" voice. Well, if that's the case...."America" is a racist. "America" did not want to see two black women competing for the title of "Ameican Idol". Black women have fought for so long to be apart of MS USA pageants, Miss America...and look? Now we have to fight to be apart of "American Idol" I'm soo...not surprised. It just reminds me of all the shit that use to be....obviously, racism still exists.

Vee,
I have to agree. American Idol is a complete crock of shit. The record companies love to throw all kinds of money to "white mainstream" artist. Case and point look at how much they have pushed Clay aiken's cd and tour and just leave Ruben Studdered out to dry. Pop music is a complete fuckin' joke right now. The record companies took a pure form of hip hop and turned it bubble gum. I remember when hip hop was a forum for the streets now there are very few rappers or groups that flow about the issues. I do have to give respect to the "diolated peoples". If you haven't checked them out you should take a listen.

Vee,
That's one of the reasons I don't watch the Miss America pageant. The talent competition is talentless. The makeup is thicker than their brainwaves. They all want to have "world peace" and feed hungry children. It's all smiles and teeth, then some women who are damn fine lose out to sme bitch who looks like a horse who practices the 100 yard dash in a 90 yard gym.
That's why I now only watch the Miss Black Nude America pageant.

In the words of Gareth "fuckers",
Yo, if you don't like it, don't watch it. Then it'll go off the air. Although, that might increase the frequency of the radio playing "Straight up now tell me"....she's got to support her infected manicure thumb, you know....

jane_haze,
I've heard it many places (including from the mouth of Simon Cowell) but does anyone ele agree that Paula is seriously unhinged. She was crying like an idiot when Latoya was voted off. Latoya(classy) didn't cry, so why should Paula? The girl isn't being put down like a dog in a kennel after the show. LATOYA WILL LIVE, PAULA. Paula Abdul should know better than anyone else that no matter who wins, only the talented will have a career after the show. Like Simon said, the fact that these people (LaToya and Fantasia included) were on the show is a hell of a shot in the arm for their career, one that they may have never gotten.
Kim Locke, Clay and even that marginally talented marine boy went on to make and sell plenty of records after they were voted off. The same will hold true for Latoya and Fantasia. And it doesn't matter if she wins the Idol or not, no one is buying an album by Diana "nostrils" DeGarmo.
She'll be castoff to "off-Broadway musical purgatory".
As for whoever 'America' votes for, it's legit. If it were just a black audience voting, and the only two standing were the sistas,(you know that's how that would turn out) would that be racist? No. Jasmine and DeGarmo are talented too. And the american idol audience identifies with them. What's wrong with that? The black women getting voted off of 'AI' aint racism dude. Slavery, police profiling and police brutality is racism.
