I guess this question can be taken two ways but this is not an existential forum.
My question is this; when you die on stage there comes a moment when you know that you've not connected with the audience (usually through your own fault) but what makes you carry on?
Personally, the whole reason I do stand up is because I want to get up peoples noses. If I'm not hitting the spot then it does bother me, but I'd rather deliver material that I know is funny and piss them off, than compromise and pander to a backward bunch.
However, what's gone through your mind when this has happened in the past?

You get born, you keep your head down and you die - if you're lucky.
