The Veddy Brilliant Return of Andy Kaufman?

On May 16, it will be 20 years to the day that Andy died (or is it "died"). He said that if he faked his death, he would come back exactly 20 years later. Something secret is being planned at the House of Blues, with Bob Zmuda and Andy's creation/nemesis, Tony Clifton.

Will Andy Kaufman return, after having pulled off the most brilliant disappearance act of all time? Or will it just be a tribute to man gone much too soon?

Any Andy fans here? Just curious if you think it's possible he could have pulled it off?

vivaknievel,

Andy could probably be the only one to pull it off and nobody would really care. Then again, imagine if he did it, but then announced that he was dying...

Oh, *I'd* care if Kaufman came back. Lots of people would. It seems too far-fetched that he could have done it for 20 years, but then again, this is a man who worked mostly unnoticed as a busboy at Jerry's Deli, just to stay humble, while starring in one of the top tv shows. Probably impossible, but then again it is Andy Kaufman, so you never know. You never can know...

That's hilarious about the Tupac comparison. (BTW, if you haven't seen the Tupac Resurrection documentary, keep your eyes peeled... pretty inpsirational). More records have been put out than when the motherfucker was still alive. haha

This show sounds rad! I totally hope that Kaufman really does come back. And even if it turns out to be a sham, it'll still be funny that we got pranked by him from beyond the grave.

NickFlanagan,
Definitely. That would be so hot. And yeah, if it doesn't happen, well he still wins for the fact that he set us up for another joke that we didn't get the punchline for until 20 years later. I would give my right arm to be able to afford to go to that show. Regardless of Andy showing up, I would just love to see Tony Clifton.

A curious thing, though --- and this is total conspiracy theory shit, but the pictures I remember seeing of Andy in the middle of his chemotherapy... his head was bald, but the rest of him was hairy as a monkey. Having known some cancer patients, this doesn't seem possible. Things that make you go hmmm. Well, I guess we'll find out soon... if he doesn't show, then I'll accept and believe that he's actually dead.

vivaknievel,

Just thinking about it give me goosebumps he'd make some much green people would break there backs too see him. He'd me the most sought after person in HollyWood.

Me and my buddy looked into it it cost's 90 bucks a pop to get in to that show I wish I had the cash to burn I'd be there. Even if he's really dead just being there would be special.

smjmcomic,
I'm with you, there. I don't care who's gonna do Tony Clifton, I'd just like to see it and apparently some movie they've never shown before. Oh, well... we'll hear about it soon enough. :)
