Conyers was not elected by the people of Michigan. He was elected by the people of Detroit, Michigan. Even with all that he has done Conyers still would be left out in the cold by the suburban voters. But Detroit came through electing a damn good congressman.
In fact, about 12 years ago Conyers expressed interest in running for Mayor of Detroit. He was then told that while he would make an excellent mayor, he was needed too much in congress.
