Memorial Dave
New ''Chappelle's Show'' season begins May 31. More than a year after the last original episode aired, the Comedy Central star begins the first of two new seasons by Gary Susman

'SHOW' TIME Chappelle will return -- finally!

It's finally time for Dave Chappelle to earn that big advance. Comedy Central has announced that the long-awaited third season of Chappelle's Show will debut May 31, more than a year after the final original episode of Season 2 aired. Since then, of course, the sketch series has become a monster hit on DVD, prompting Comedy Central to pay the comic $50 million for two more seasons. Why the delay, then, for Season 3? Over the winter, Chappelle reportedly suffered from flu and writer's block. And, for all we know, maybe a case of jitters over having to make sure the next batch of shows lives up to his new paycheck.http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,1053 ... 0_,00.html - SHOWTIME BITCHES!!!!!' :D

bingolong,
Yeah I heard him and half the crew got sick right when they started writing and pitching ideas.
You also have to assume $50 million dollar weed is much more potent and it took some time to get use to the REALLY good shit.

robfharris,

The question now is he set up for failure? Has the bar been set too high? Personally, I found his 2nd season to be damn near perfect. Every episode had me screaming out loud. If the 3rd and 4th seasons are even a hint less funny than the first two will he be villified?

Anditsdeeptoo,
You know I spent the whole second season comparing it to the first season I didn't get to enjoy it(I'll do that when I get the DVD ;p)The thing is he has set the bar high but he is literally "rich bitch!!!!" So he might as well have fun with it!!

But yeah I think he might be under pressure but he just has to let go and let the "force" be his guide. He is probably overthinking everything.Probably with good reason he has worked hard to get where he is and now all eyes are on him!!! 8-o 8-o 8-o 8-o 8-o

I don't know what the hell I am talking about,I'm trying to hard to make a point I guess..... :(

bingolong,
I'm not sure if the bar was set too high, last season (Hell, the very first episode had, in my opinion, one of the five best sketches EVER 'the Black-White Supremecist'). But the Rick James and the Lil' John bits got too big, for. Admit it, you had to get sick of hearing "WHAT", "OK", and "I'm Rick James, Bitch" at every bar... or maybe I need to stop drinking or start drinking by myself at home more. When he made the comment at the MTV Awards last year "hey, is there anything you guys don't like?" With that, I'm not sure if he's even concerned about 'topping' season 2...
I just hope he continues to see what he can get away with.
Personally, this is the best thing going on tv, I'm not gonna do anything stupid like starting to expect shit from it, last time I started expecting things from someone... she divorced me.

Exactly, I guess the best idea is to sit back and enjoy it until the corporate forces reign him in and disenfranchize him like NBC did to TMIC.

WTF....QUIT PLAYING WITH MY EMOTIONS!!!!!!

Chappelle's Show is a no-go, bitch!

In a surprise announcement Wednesday, Comedy Central announced that the highly anticipated third season of Dave Chappelle's show will not make its May 31 premiere date.

"Comedy Central has suspended production on the third season of Chappelle's Show until further notice," network spokesman Tony Fox said in a brief statement. "All parties are optimistic that production will resume in the near future."

No official reason was given for the shutdown, but sources told E! News that Chappelle has been MIA from the set for weeks. There was no indication on how long the suspension would last.

In December, the network said that Chappelle's Show was behind schedule after Chappelle fell ill, forcing the network to postpone the expected February debut of new episodes.

"Dave--and his entire production crew for that matter--got a bit of a late start on writing season three," Fox told the New York Post. Production was slated to resume in January.

Last August, Chappelle, 31, reupped with Comedy Central in a massive two-year deal, valued at $50 million by the Hollywood Reporter. The deal also set a new Industry precedent--reportedly giving the funnyman a large cut of backend DVD sales.

Featuring Chappelle's often raunchy standup, offbeat sketches and killer parodies of Prince and Rick James, Chappelle's Show has steadily built a huge following since its January 2003. By the end of season two, the half-hour show was often pulling in more than three million viewers, a substantial number for basic cable. The first season currently ranks as the all-time top-selling TV show on DVD. (Paramount has indefinitely pushed back the release of the second season--the studio hopes to time the DVD to the start of season three.)

In addition to his gig at Comedy Central, Chappelle had been working on a book for Hyperion. There has been no word on the book's status; there's also no word on the reported Rick James biopic for Paramount in which Chappelle would portray the late R&B wild man.

No 'Show'
''Chappelle's Show'' halts production. Comedy Central and the comedian's rep offer no explanation for the production shutdown by Gary Susman

NO-SHOW ''Chappelle'' won't return to Comedy Central this month

Marking the one-year anniversary of the last time a new episode of Chappelle's Show aired, Comedy Central issued a statement on Wednesday indicating that the wait for new episodes will continue indefinitely. Less than a day after the network touted its upcoming slate to advertisers at an all-star presentation, and four weeks before the scheduled May 31 premiere of Season 3, Comedy Central issued a brief statement saying the show would not return as scheduled ''Comedy Central has suspended production on the third season of Chappelle's Show until further notice,'' network spokesman Tony Fox said in the statement. ''All parties are optimistic that production will resume in the near future.''

There was no further explanation for the delay, though E! News cited sources that said Chappelle hasn't been on the set for weeks. But the New York Times reports that Chappelle was filming skits last week in Harlem. According to the New York Daily News, Chappelle's team had been filming the show's out-of-the-studio sketches since early 2005, with in-studio tapings before a live audience scheduled to take place this week, on Thursday and Saturday.

Last summer, the sketch show's huge DVD sales prompted Comedy Central to sign Chappelle for two more seasons for a reported $50 million. In December, the network said that the scheduled February season premiere would be postponed due to production delays, attributed variously to Chappelle's writer's block or his contraction of the flu. Comedy Central's Fox tells the Times that Chappelle had walking pneumonia.

Making the current delay more mysterious, Fox tells the Times that 10 of the 13 episodes are complete and ready for broadcast. Musical guests who have taped performances include 50 Cent, Kanye West, and Common, he says. Um, so then, why is the May 31 premiere being scrapped? Maybe Chappelle went on another nighttime ride with wildman Wayne Brady and got lost.
