I'm watching [/i]Meet The Press[/i].
John Negroponte Ambassador to Iraq, when asked by Russert "There are only 4000 fully trained and capable Iraqi soldiers in the armed forces. Is that accurate?" answered with one of the now infamous Bushesque avoidance of the question. He said "Well I think that really understates the accomplishments of the Iraqi army & police forces. They've had a number of successes in the past several months... I think that 4000 figure understates the progress that has been made..." Russert: "Where would you put the figure?" Negroponte: "I'm not certain what number to put on the number trained. As I did say there are 79 or 80 battalions out there. For example, in Faluja there are nine Iraqi battalions..."
He also said: "We are here at the invitation of the Iraquis."
They also showed a clip of Dick Cheney on Imus the other day:
"We don't want a war in the Middle-East, if we can avoid it."
He was talking about Israel/Iran, but didn't we [/i]start[/i] a war in the Middle-East? Sorry, my geography must be off...
Oh, and something else hit me today... Bush went off on John Kerry for forgetting to mention the eight Polish men fighting in Iraq. (OK, I know it's more than eight, but whatever.) Funny how Bush stresses the nearly insignificant assistance given by other nations, but avoids taling about how many of our men come home feet first.
A message to the President: Please wipe that damn smirk off your face. There are people dying while you continue tricking the idiot public. Nice inauguration. How many men were blown apart while you were partying down?
