I love Richard Pryor and he makes me laugh. Also he doesn't mince words, he'll tell ya like it is. My favorite movies of his is Bustin' Loose and Stir Crazy.
But the one movie I really didn't like was The Toy.
What was the worst movie that Richard was in to you?

jazzybee,
No offense but who cares about his worst movie?
I can tell you this it definitely wouldn't have been "The Toy" I would just say "Mad Dog Time" b/c he was only in it briefly and was honestly the only reason I wanted to see the movie:(
But I am definitely with you on the Bustin Loose being a fav, welcome to the site!!

bingolong,
what I meant by worst is that what was the movie that you know Richard could have been cast better in. I loved Bustin Loose, but I still don't understand to this day why it was Rated R. I thought it was a nice well thought out movie, if you know why, can you help me?

astonamous,
Wow. I am the only one in this world who loved Cleavon Little in the role. He was understated and I felt that added to it a great deal. Richard would have been great as Bart, but his writing was the greatest asset to the film. Who knows if his role in writing would have been as great if he had been cast?
It's funny, but nobody seems to complain about Gene Wilder as The Waco Kid. Mel is on record as not wanting Gene in that role. Imagine John Wayne (1st choice) or Gig Young (actually cast)
Oh, and as much as I love Richard, I think that Little did a superb job singing "I Get A Kick Out Of You!"

JTF,
Hmmm, probably "Critical Condition". It just hit me as boring and Mr. P just going through the motions. Very uninspired and bland.

jermainebailey,
And you call yourself a fan????

Richard Pryor is probably the only reason you watched them right?
I'm sorry I don't agree....the man has many dimensions and every one of those made money....so someone must have liked them.
I did!

i love "brewster's millions"!!! by far a comedy classic!! great premise!!
i think what people have a problem with is the pryor we c on stage is NOT the same man in the movies. understandably, he has 2 tame himself a bit 4 the movies.

bountyhunterseven,
What I love about him is that fact that you see an actor playing another person and trying really hard to be that other person.
If you ever watched or listened to Bill Cosby in his early years then you would know that the Huxtables were his stage act brought to the 'Boob Tube", and that's not a bad thing because it made people laugh.
Bill Cosby is safe in what he does, he feels comfortable where he is.
Richard Pryor was an explorer and all of his fans know this.
He was,and is still is, not afraid of the risk.
He did what he wanted and that's all that's important to him.
