Favourite movie by genre...

Just curious, i have really diverse taste in movies so I can never answer the question "whats your favourite film?"

So, with that I figured i'd ask the following:

Fave Comedy?

Fave Action?

Fave Drama?

Fave Thriller? (dont anybody say Micheal Jackson!)

and how about Fave Richard Pryor movie??

Mine would be along the lines of:

Comedy = My Cousin Vinny - Joe Pesci is perfect in this one.

Action = Im torn on this one because i'm into two styles of action, the throwback 80's style and the hong kong style, so i would say The Running Man, one of Arnie's finest, and from HK 'In The Line Of Duty' if anyone saw Blade 2, and wanted to see more from the Chinese mute vampire with the fuck off sized sword, this is him in action from start to finish - He was also Blade 2's fight choreographer.

Drama = I mentioned this one in another thread, Midnight Express the real life story of William Hayes.

Thriller = Micheal Jacks....shit errm, i think 'The Bedroom Window' with one time box office draw Steve Guttenburg in a serious role, its a bit dated and hokey now, but i've always been engrossed watching this one.

Fave Richard Pryor Movie - I dont know how many of you would agree with me on this one, but i say 'Bustin Loose' some real moments of magic both in terms of laugh out loud moments and excellent acting, something i dont think Rich got enough credit for in his movies.

Jennifer, if possible can you pls ask Rich how in the hell a man dives so high in the air and dosent move but an inch forward  anyone remember that belly flop at the riverside? That shit must have hurt like hell!

Anditsdeeptoo,

If you like the action in Bad Boys 2, make the effort to check out Police Story.

Arguably Jackie Chan's best work of the 80's with stunts that put anything around today to shame...

Why this reccomendation, well...the scene with the cars driving through the shanty town, see it done first and FOR REAL! no CGI bullshit, watch Jackie literally jump in and drive through that motherfucker, its unbelievable.

I couldnt believe what i saw when after about the 4th hour of BB2 the climatic action scene was one i'd seen 12yrs ago, and done a million times better!

barley,

Cool I will definitely check it out. I just love the cinematography in BB2. The scene in the crackhouse with the jamaicans was shot brilliantly.

Anditsdeeptoo,

Yeah, definatley! that was the films one redeeming feature for me, sure there were a couple of laugh out loud moments, but not nearly enough considering the length of the film but it is a joy to watch for the visuals, the scene you mention is awesome!

Im an ameture film maker myself and to see such imagination with camera movement is great!

barley,

You're right, as a film, it was lack luster, but for an action movie, it had all you could want, loud explosions and crazy noises everywhere. I love my action flicks loud and obnoxious with no plot.

Anditsdeeptoo,

Okay better late than never:

Comedy: Friday, Stir Crazy
Action: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Dr. No
Drama: To Kill A Mockingbird
Thriller: Cape Fear
Pryor: Stir Crazy, Live in Concert (stand-up)

Of course this list changes all the time. Okay now I have a question for you. What's the worse movie you've ever seen? For me, it was the Punisher. Stank to high heaven! This was one of those comicbook movies and not a very good one.

Do something wrong around this guy and he takes out his gun and shoot you. Bang! Bang! Bang! That's not a superhero, people, that's an alcohlic with a bad temper. The Punisher is the only hero endorsed by the NRA.
