actually, i thought he was trying to say mr. pryor was better than just being the best black comic, but instead, the best comic of a generation. i think we can all agree with this

This guy suffers from a bad case of misplaced aggression. Richard Pryor isn't the problem, he's the solution. Great comedy transcend all barriers, true. But it doesn't happen over night. It takes years of evolution and you have to start somewhere.

Whats the best route to get there? Start with your own experience, go with what you know. For Foxworthy that's redneck humor, for Jackie Mason it's the catskills, Eddie Griffin a little defjam. This guy wants the end result of great comedy by cutting it off at the root. Sheer folly.

Pryor's award will only encourage and promote the evolution of good comedians. Sometimes all that's needed to initiate genius is a little recognition. I commend Mr. Pryor for doing so.

Oh yeah and I posted the previous message. Just noticed I hadn't logged on when I did it. One more thing about categories. Categories aren't an inherently bad thing. They're like a form of cognitive shorthand. They save us time. Clues us in on what to expect. Categories are just a mental tool to faciliate understanding. It's people who use categories for nefarious purposes. So instead of boycotting Pryor, that guy should be honoring him. Black comedians were all but ignored prior to Pryor.
