Motown artist Syreeta Wright dies at age 58

Motown recording artist and songwriter Syreeta Wright, who collaborated with ex-husband Stevie Wonder in writing several hits including "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and "If You Really Love Me," died Tuesday. She was 58. Wright died at her home, surrounded by family, after battling breast cancer, her sister Kim Barnum said. Wright was also known for her hit duet with Billy Preston, "With You I'm Born Again," from the 1979 film "Fast Break." She married Wonder in 1970; they divorced about two years later. They remained friends and collaborators until her death, Barnum said. Wonder produced two of Wright's albums, including "Syreeta" and "Stevie Wonder Presents Syreeta" about their love, divorce and friendship. (AP)

JTF,

bingolong,

Nope. One of my boys saw it too. One of the sweetest voices ever. I have a LOT of her work. Her first 3 LP's are brilliant. Her work with Karma & Gary Bartz isn't as well known, but wow! Too bad I don't have cable, or I'd be putting Flip on DVD...

BTW... Those Flip Wilson show's you're watching are reruns. Just thought I'd inform you...

Jennifer,

Whitehead was about a month ago. I guess they still don't know why... Then there is still the unsolved murder of Jason Mizell. Isn't it sad that good people like JMJ & Whitehead get killed while assholes like M&M get to continue wasting valuable oxygen...

Syreeta was so underrated. With a voice like hers she should have been HUGE. b.b

Man, we are really losing some great, great people here lately. I'm going to pass this site on to you all and you can research and look up many other greats that have gone. I did check today and they had Syreeta (Rita Wright) on there. They are usually pretty prompt on updating. I got turned on to it right after we lost Roger Troutman. So, here you all go. Check it out if you get the chance.
