smjmcomic,
Why is it that comics always feel that they can get away with 100% new. I always go to a gig ready to do my tried and true stuff, maybe sandwich one or two new jokes in between the killer material and then finish up strong. I have seen guys and gals do this suicide thing where they go up there with all new stuff, bomb and then can't understand why. I think it is great that you are trying new stuff but that is a lot of pressure for it to all be new no matter how much "you" love it and want to try it out. God forbid that is the one night that opportunity knocks and someone is watching you that could completly change your comedy career and if you do all new stuff that you are not confident with that person walks out thinking, "man what was that?" Do your best stuff always. My rule of thumb is, "This is a room full of people who have never seen or heard me before. When they leave they will be saying in the car, 'man that chick was funny'" and that is that. Sorry if I got a bit preachy but the comedy is my passion baby.
