bingolong,
that corky's...that's the main thing keeping me from jumping over to that veggie side. But you know about the corky's and [/i]how[/i] good it can be...
So you gave up pork then? Strong man...

bingolong,
Your roommate did not become a vegitarian, it was actually your cooking.
Seroiusly though, I could not imagine eating a vegitarian diet. I'd be like the old broad from the Wendy's commercial: "Where's the beef?" I am starting to watch what I eat more and more though. I buy free range, organic meat whenever possible. I think I'm too much a wuss to actually kill an animal myself for food, but as a great man once referred to be, I am a rib-eatin-motherfucker!

Jennifer,
That's awesome. I have lots of friends who are vegetarian and vegan, and the truth is there are a lot of good meat substitutes out there and stuff you can make that is just as filling and tasty. Veganism is even wilder though--no dairy or eggs. How can it be done?

jane_haze,
No I won't say I gave up pork....but I think about it everytime I eat a shredded pork sandwich with slaw.
For a time when I was trying to give it up a couple of years ago I would go to Corky's and get that same sandwich with beef instead of pork but it just wasn't the same....

Luckily since I have moved back to this part of Tennessee from the Nashville area there are no Corky's around ,unfortunately there are alot of alternatives though........

JTF,
I tell you what though, once when my roommate had only recently started to be a vegetarian and we were not getting along too tough so I thought I would bring him a Burger King "Whopper" home as peace offering....He just thought I was trying to be an asshole!!But hey he was a big guy who liked to eat!!!It was an honest mistake with good intentions!!
But yeah I need to really get off that pork but it keeps calling me!!My father passed away partly from heart disease and I really don't want to push my luck
Now let me ask you guys something that doesn't make sense to me:
I met a girl who stated that she was a vegitarian and that she enjoyed Arby's Roast Beef sandwiches. Now do they make those sandwiches out of soybeans or tofu, or is that broad just ignorant as hell?
