SweetLuchia,
Why do I lump the airline industry in wit autos and gas? Guess what jets run on? Jet fuel, which is a very high grade gas. They suck it down at a rate that makes the hummer look like a toyota prius...

JTF,
Yes of course they run on jet fuel which comes from oil companies but you completely missed my point which was if we all switched from gasoline powered automobiles to electric powered and/or solar powered ones, the oil companies WOULD lose money-A LOT of money irregardless of what happens in the airline industry.
It's cool tho Bingo got my point

SweetLuchia,
I know bushy is in deep. This is something that goes way beyond him though. It's been building for over 50 years and who knows if this nation can ever overcome it...

JTF,
Yes of course it goes way beyond Bush, that's a given.
I was simply saying that with him-
an oil boy in office, it makes it so much easier for big oil TO keep us dependent on their product.
Now let me get the hell out of this forum before my head explodes
P.S. I'm also a HUGE boxing fan-but only Heavyweights. I don't keep up on any of the little fuckers

I wish I had the temper to hang out here more but alas I just don't!
I have the
PASSION required for change but
NOT the patience! And passion without patience in the political realm can be very dangerous

Gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, diesel etc., from actual gases to heavy liquid form, it all comes from the same source, crude oil, and is actually all manufactured right out of the same silo. I saw an hour long program on the History Channel on it a while ago. Very interesting...
Also, speaking of the History Channel, I saw on 'Tactical to Practical' an electric car beat a Dodge Viper in the 1/4 mile. Now after the 1/4 mile the Viper overtook the electric car but it was quite an eye opener to see an electric powered engine beat a big, beefy gas powered V-10 on the straight-away in a 1/4 mile heat.
Don't worry everyone, we'll run out of fossil fuels soon enough and there will be no choice but to look for and implement other alternative energy sources. Same goes for coal and many other natural resources that are most definitely on their own way to extinction.
Just think of the real energy crisis coming our way, powering a vehicle is just the tip of the iceberg here and should be the least of our worries, if they don't figure something out soon. For instance, when the electricity went out a few weeks back on me for over 48 hours the area I live in came to a grinding halt.
Maybe like our Trident submarine fleet and our aircraft carriers we could all switch to cars with mini nuclear reactors. You could go and go for years without a refueling. Of course a minor fender bender could possibly wipe out or contaminate a square mile around the crash site and everyone would basically possess their own nuclear bomb on wheels.
Just think, millions of years from now maybe our billions of scattered remains will be the fossil fuels that power a new race.
I think I just saw premium for $2.68 a gallon out here in Seattle. Gasoline always seems to be more expensive on the west coast than elsewhere in the United States.
Crude oil, it keeps the machine rolling along...
