dougdigitalpro,

Wow you're a [/i]Star Wars[/i] fan?!!! Me TOO!!! The latest movies are cool and all but I like the original and the 2 sequels that followed the best ;)

I just LOVE the whole battle between good and evil story line. I mean yes it's been done to death but Lucas does it in away that's just SO fuckin unique B-)

Luchia, You too! Aw, man. I'm home now for real! Yeah, the Originals will always be masterpieces. The prequels are good too though. They are just on a different level. You have to really study what's going on. There are alot of levels there and everything is suspect. Sort of like real life.
;p
Man, I'm glad to know you guys dig Star Wars. I knew it was something I dug about y'all. :D

dougdigitalpro and Sweet Luchia,
We got three of us now!!!Luchia for some reason the brothas trip if you mention anything sci-fi Star Wars,Star Trek it ain't nothing!!!Fuck it there loss!!!(That is really the exception and not the rule)

Yeah I remember seeing the 1st one as a toddler at a drive in movie and I've followed them for what will be in 2005, 28 years of my life!!!I agree Luchia the original is the best b/c they had the Han Solo character but the new ones add to the mythology so well, if only they would have had "Papa Han" or something.....!

....But to get it back on topic :
did anybody see the "Star Wats Bar" on the Richard Pryor Show.Classic!!!

SweetLuchia,
I like the original Star Trek cast in movies, but I think the mythology of Star Wars is killing it!!But that's the thing, it don't matter.I can bring up the topic to some brothas and they will be like," huh what?" 8-o

Luchia,
They dig it, but it's like they go see it at the show and that's it. As far as the more "nerdy" aspects of it, discussion, conventions, etc. Most black folks think they're too cool for it. It's silly fantasy stuff. I've been a hardcore fan since day 1 and I study it on it's mythological levels and what it conveys about life and people and that's hard to discuss with the thug who's in the streets tryin' to get his hustle on.
bingo,
What i dig about the prequels is it requires you to view it several times because there's so many underlying themes and angles going on that on the surface you don't notice. I was frustrated as hell after i first saw Ep. 2 because it went off into so many different directions. But after I got the DVD and sat down and studied it. I got a lot more out of it. After Ep. 3, I think people will connect the dots a lot better. But right now, people don't want to put that much thought into their movie going experience and I think that's why the prequels go over a lot of people's heads. Especially in this current climate where just about everything we watch is garbage anyhow.
I'm not only a fan of the films but George Lucas has taught so much about the process of filmaking and maintaining independence and your artistic integrity. I even think him at the end of the credits for my film for having such an influence on me. He's the master at what he does.

dougdigitalpro and Luchia,
They needed a slight comic relief other than Jar Jar like Han was to the originals. That is the main difference in the originals and the new prequels. But the prequels apply to the times and Han is a character that came out of the rise of the Empire! Alot of people would complain that the new prequels use dialouge that was boring etc.But that's the thing, it was a different era in the galaxy, the repuplic was still kicking it and the Jedi knights talked real proper and elegant.
This is a galatic period piece. That is cool as hell!!! B-)

okay I had to get that off my chest to somebody sorry..... b.b

Luchia,

 I gave up on Star Trek years ago. When they started fucking up the movies with that Next Generation bullshit. Man, did they ever mess that franchise up. It's pretty quality stuff up until Star Trek 5 or 6 and then it just got silly. The reason the films worked so well with Kirk & co. was because the audience was able and had time to put some distance between the TV show and the films.
Why they cancelled the TNG TV show and immediately slung them onto the big screen could only be attributed to greed and it crippled the whole series to catastrophic proportions. The stories were nowhere near interesting enough to make a big budget movie out of and then you had this factor: You are now going to make a big screen movie using a cast I used to watch on TV for free and think I'm going to pay $8.00 to watch it in a theatre only to have it revert right back to TV when it goes to video and cable and eventually right back on free TV! Too stupid for me. Sorry for ranting on about Star Trek but I get riled when i think how they destroyed what was a quality series for greed and money. I just watched Wrath of Khan the other day on cable and it reminded me of how good it used to be.
Well, it never was Star Wars anyway. :X

bingo,
The Star wars Bar skit on the DVD's is probably one of the best skits on the whole package. It amazes how Mr. P got so many of the original costumes used in the films for the skit. Ain't no way Lucas would let them go like that today.
