tamra,
Wanda kept it real though you could tell he was hurt!!
But he did come back with a good point that I had never thought about so I had to give him a pass...

Yeah and Greg Anthony was trying to make sense with his points but he missed he never made it at all.....

bingolong,

true about Sharpton because a leader may not be around to speak on an urban cause, but someone has to speak on the situation. only issue w/him is some issues ain't always issues.

yeah Greg Anthony should just stick to basketball. because even I had the same reaction as the other guests.

tomorrow D.L. Hughley will be on, I have timer set, reminder on phone and reminder via email so I won't forget. it's hard to catch it again as it only airs between 12-4am after the first showing, and never at a regular time. can only scroll up so far in schedule to record next time.

this needs to be a regular show, not just a black history month thing. webcast like The Boondocks would be nice too.

bingolong,

yup and it's funny, the only time I ever watched Wayne Brady was once for a few minutes for his opening monologue on his daytime show and of course the Dave Chappelle thing, which was priceless. "Dave hoes, hoes, Dave"

but who knew Brady would have one of the best shows on right now. it's deep and funny. and you're like "WOW" at the guests - and 1st one w/Belafonte AND Diahann Carroll and with Paul Mooney. shoot, that's a weekly talk show right there. Diahann talking to the men and women about behavior, Belafonte speaking on world issues, and Paul Mooney breaking down crazy stuff in our society now. Bill Maher needs to get these 3 on his show. HBO would shut down from all the calls, good and bad.

but about Sharpton....if only I could be assured Sharpton wasn't gonna be under the hair dryer while we were under attack, then I could feel safe w/him leading the way  last thing I need to see is a microphone w/a camera crew being jammed in his face and him answering questions w/a hair salon cape on and metal clips in his hair. oh lawddddy

bingolong,

OKAAAY, Lola Umfoofoo, whatever her name is, sitting there w/all that GOLD on talking about rap stars over the top w/jewelry. 1 gold chain wasn't enough? @.@ but I guess that was all to accessorize the outfit.

and I have to agree w/D.L. on the NBA dress code and who's really in charge. D.L. broke it down.

and also agree w/D.L. on the top people in music. because as much as I like Biggie, Jay Z, TuPac music, my musical influences which helped many to make sound decisions, inspired you, carry on a movement, etc. were people like Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Minnie Ripperton, Aretha, Phyllis Hyman, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder (who should have been on Wayne's list instead of a couple of other folks).

and there is a major disconnect w/today's hip hop and the older generation. but Bud Da explained that a little. I guess it was the same thing when rock and roll came out. but still 50 years from now, I can still play Marvin's "I Want You" and still enjoy it, and still be able to do any dance to it: slow dance, two step, bus stop, swing, the snake, the wop, the running man....  Marvin's Pride & Joy came out before I was even born, yet I still love it.

and you can watch most of it online

tamra,
Yeah were was STEVIE!?

Yeah there are alot of us in hip-hop that respect classic music because that s where we draw alot of our inspirition but I don't think the listening public really recognizes that when they here Kanye West's "Touch The Sky" which lifts from a Curtis Mayfield tune.

Also felt him when he stated it seems like in music blacks always have to "reinvent the wheel"

bingolong,

I know ain't that something?! there were 2 more weeks left in month when last show aired, they could have run it on a Monday and had about 5 episodes. but THREE!! ]:o( well, so much for that.

but that brings up an opportunity for someone to do the same show format and at the same hour, which was a good time. it doesn't even have to be on TVLand, but any decent network, or do it on HBO and make it uncensored talk. that would be wild. but better the show be on regular network for a broader audience.

I could see that type of show spinning off into an interactive format: polls, topic suggestions, guest artists to critique  there seriously needs to be something like that. :( the broad range of guest talkers is what makes it the bomb too.
