Sometimes I get disillusioned with the whole so-called democratic process. The way that Bush got in the first time was similar to what we hear goes on in dictatorships.
Over here in Britain, Blair won, but by the smallest majority ever. Add this to the fact that voter turn-out is at an all time low, it makes you wonder how well the leaders we have are true representatives of the peoples' choice.
The problem that you guys have is similar to us. There is no real effective opposition. True democracy requires effective opposition to keep the government in check. Clinton was a master campaigner (in my opinion, the best ever!), his charisma alone could rally people around. Today the democrats lack such an individual, and over here, the opposition is not even worth talking about!
Very few people that I know over here or in the US wanted this stupid war. We made our voices heard on the streets and in the polling booths, but nothing has changed. I just saw on the news that Iran have elected a new leader who is not to the approval of the West, allegations have been made about vote-rigging. Are we gonna go and bomb the cowboy-shit out of them too? when our own electoral processes stink to high heaven.
