I wish Dole won in '96...

I was just thinking about how different things would be if Dole beat Clinton.

Without looking into Dole and his issues and how he may have responded to events that have come about in the past eight years I think this nation would be better off. Bob Dole is a good man. If he won in '96, the right wing nuts would never have had all that fun they had with a girl named Monica. Clinton never would have been impeached.

2000 would have come along and there is a strong possibility that he would have faced former president Clinton in a rematch. If Clinton wins, he can only serve one term, but he goes down as only the second prez to ever regain the office. I'm sure his ego would have enjoyed that. If Dole wins reelection, that leaves him coming to the end of his second term right about now. The 2004 republican nominee would likely be John McCain, as Jack Kemp would not come near getting the nomination. McCain would likely be running against either Clinton, Gore, or Lord knows who else.

The major thing I believe is that if Dole is elected in '96, little Georgie Bush is just a former Gov. of Texas who has no political power. He came up at the right moment. The only hope he may have had is if he had challenged Dole for the nom in 2000. But I think Dole would have crushed baby-bush...
