These beautiful creatures have much to teach us.... This lists some of the ways we can learn from them. Hope you enjoy reading and thinking about it!
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close and nuzzle them gently.

Re: Dog Advice
Jennifer, I bought two German Shepherds for protection but I didn't train them to protect, so they bark like hell and let people rub their bellies. I then bought two Black Great Danes. Now I have natural protective dogs. They are so big, yet very loyal and spoiled. They eat out of my hand, and they love a good neck massage, but don't come in my yard without me. Now my dog food bill is close to my cel. phone bill. I would be one lonely man without my best friends. My dogs. If you've never been loved unconditionally, buy a dog.

Re: Dog Advice
Jennifer, rescuing is a good idea, and I was aware of that fact, but since most rescue dogs are grown up, I was a bit intimidated by a full grown Great Dane. I will take a closer look at rescuing next time I decide to get a dog. It can't be that bad.

Jennifer,
That list is wonderful!!!! except "Let people touch you..." actually, maybe the people you don't want to touch you fall under the "Let them know if they're invading your territory" my head hurts, too much thinking...
