A simple way to help wildlife rehabilitators

Post by Melody »

I rehab all sorts of wild orphaned animals and ran across an offer from the HSUS. If any of you have some old furs, or know of people that do and no longer want them, they can donate them to the HSUS as a tax contribution and in turn, those donated furs are given out to rehabbers all over the country. The pelts are then cut up by rehabbers and placed in with the tiny orphans in order to comfort them after the loss of their mothers. 9 times out of ten, when they come in they are inconsolable yet after the fur is placed in with them, they very quickly settle down and sleep and the crying ceases for good. To the people that are rehabbers, although we are against they way fur coats are created,we feel as if the furs are getting a chance to vindicate their cruel deaths. Its sort of a way to feel good that that animal didnt die in vain and that his coat will be used to help out unfortunate wee ones. Soooo, track down those people if you can and you will be comforting a frightenend, helpless wild orphan.
Thanks guys.
