well, we always say it happens in threes, huh?

Roscoe Lee Browne was a class actor, who always made me smile, even in his serious roles. he was another reminder of dignity.

Stan created the hit shows Taxi & Mary Tyler Moore

and Kurt Vonnegut was an amazing writer.

may they rest in peace and never be forgotten. ):)

tamra,
Roscoe Lee Brownes character "Jedediah Nightlinger" in The Cowboys was a huge part of making that one of my favorite movies.

R.I.P. Roscoe, Stan and Kurt.

hellifiknow,

" The cowboys " is a fav.

I remember Roscoe Lee Browne playing a part on Sanford and Son, which caused Fred to say , " that's niggers crazy !! during a scene.
He was on just about every show in the 70's ,at some point .

RIP to all

bcddjjsc690,

Yeah, and now they edit that part out in the re-runs. There is one of my favorite Redd Foxx lines from Sanford And Son. It's when Fred or Lamont go to trial for a trafic violation. The court room is has mostly black members. Fred ask the cop "Do you ever give tickets to white people?" The cop says yes and Fred looks around the court room and then says "Well, where are they? There's enough niggas in here to make a Tarzan movie!" That's also a line that is now edited out in the re-runs. However one night while I was watching Good Times they aired an episode where James says the word several times. There were a lot of non PC things said on TV back then. No cursing but racial humor that would never be done now days.

RIP Roscoe, Stan, Kurt and Redd too!

KMommy,

8-o OMG that has to be one of the funniest Fred Sanford lines. so oh no they didn't! ]:o( this political correctness has gone to far. if censors can tell difference between a crazy man ranting vs comedy, then in a few years we'll be watching nothing but the credits on TV

Appaloosa,

 now that is ridiculous. just make Scarface for TV a silent movie. some movies just make no sense without the language

but have u seen Jackie Brown on regular TV? painful to watch. my favorite line is "oh you wanna see some motherfucking silly..." followed by "sit yo raggedy ass and shut the fuck up"

on edited for TV version, I think they called it "flub" or something crazy. and the word nigga was changed to something different of course.

bcddjjsc690,
try to find "The John Wayne Collection...Deluxe Edition" of The Cowboys released by Warner Brothers, there's bonus video of interviews with surviving cast members....Mr. Brownes interview alone is worth the price of the dvd.

Bruce Dern too, the (grown up) kids admit being absolutely terrified of Dern, and his classic one liner the day they filmed him killing John Wayne....

John Wayne "ooooo they're going to hate you for this"

Bruce Dern "yeah, but they're going to love me in Berkley"

and everybody say's what a great guy John Wayne was, political differences and all....I'll send it and y'all can pass it around if you want.
