JAMIE FOXX BRINGS OSCAR HOME!!!

There hasn't been any good news on what is now called "Page One Headlines" in a while so I'm more than happy to bring some tonight as Mr. Jamie Foxx has walked off with a best actor Oscar for "Ray". Man, I was literally in tears tonight watching him accept this and that has NEVER happened to me before watching the Oscars.
I have to say it was very well put together show with Rock doing excellent as host. He didn't get too foul and kept it very classy and to the point.
To see Prince of all all people come out and present the best song award was too cool and has certified him as officially not being "weird" anymore. He's the cat I respected so much back in the day again.
But onto my man Jamie. I feel like the Oscar is FINALLY coming of age and realizing that it HAS to open up to all groups of people and be, dare i say, fair. The Denzel & Halle show a few years back was the poiltical move by the Academy and maybe even testing the waters, but this is where it has fully blossomed and moved forward into the next century. Those awards to Denzel & Halle were given more on politics than talents even though both were good performances (I don't know about the whole playing semi-porn and a flat out villian and thug to get an Oscar though, but that's another debate)but this one tonight for Jamie was truly EARNED and deserved! I used to think back and wonder why black folks were so enamored with Joe Louis and treated him like such a hero when he won fights. I could kind of understand it, but couldn't feel that euphoria when older people would talk about it.
Now I know what it FEELS like. This has been a release! Jamie winning this award is a win for so many people on so many levels and to have watched him grow from his beginnings on In Living Color and do all the crazy movies and to get here, at this point is almost... magical. Because he was one of "us". He was down and he was connected. Denzel is cool, but he is Hollywood elite, always has been and he can't sing and he can't do comedy. Jamie is the full package and he has always kept himself grounded and real and to make it to the mountain in such a wonderful vehicle such as "Ray" is the truest testament that dreams CAN come true if you just keep fighting the good fight and he has won the good fight. I now truly feel a corner has been turned in Hollywood tonight and it's REAL. Thanks Jamie for being you and taking us all to the mountaintop with you, bro.

well if you gonna get all pro black on us Morgan Freeman finaly got one too!!!He was long overdue!!!With Jamie I knew it but with Morgan I was thinking he was about to be robbed again like Scorcese!!I would have been surprised if Foxx wouldn't have won but with the way Million Dollar Baby was sweeping I wasn't sure if Eastwood was going to take it

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Morgan who was long overdue also. And I also dug how "Motorcycle Diaries" got best score and gave the Latinos a little nod for a change. It was just a really great night tonight for everybody. I don't think anybody can say they really got cheated. Maybe Scorsese but I don't think these big epic films he's been doing lately is his best stuff. He's still da man though.

Speaking of Morgan Freeman getting the Oscar, did anyone else notice the confederate flag in the video projections above the stage after he won? Seemed a bit insensitive to me. I know I saw it once more afterwards too.

Yeah but it's got to hurt Scorsese to know everything he put into his flick and then to hear what Clint put into his movie:
Thirty something days of filming with few takes for shots as opposed to all the period sets and etc Scorsese has got to be hurt!!!

Does that reiterate my point on where movies need to be headed or what? You don't need all that big budget stuff to make a really great movie anymore. Digital technology is eradicating all of that. Scorsese's best films are the one's he made when he had no money. That by it's very nature makes you work harder and be more creative. "Ray" wasn't big budget either and look what came out of that! Scorsese's never really been a big budget director. Just not his style. I think he's fulfulling some childhood fantasy doing the films he's doing now. Trying to be like David Lean or something.
