People forget, Wilder would have never been shit if it hadnt been for the writing talent of Richard Pryor. Blazing Saddles was all about the talent of Richard and Mel Brooks, Gene just was at the right place right time. Mel Brooks then let him play the role in Young Frankenstein, it wasnt near the movie Blazing Saddles was.

JTF + everybody,
Wilder is just an old git with some lukewarm talent. The best stuff he was in were movies with Richard Pryor in them. Wilder is like salt or something, you put it on your food and it tastes good, but you cant live on salt alone. However, you [/i]can[/i] live on Richard Pryor alone.

Okay, its a ridiculous analogy, but basically I'm saying Richard is the man!

Gene did admit that the chemistry went only as far as the camera being on. He said that it didn't continue in real life. He wished it had, but Richard had his life and he had his.

Gene looked rough. He looked like my aunt might without her makeup and wigs...

Watching Conan. Gene Wilder is on. Conan asked him about his relationship with Richard. Gene said it was good. That the chemistry was "almost sexual."
