We have numerous feral cats living int he alley behind our apartment. I live in a little campus type community in Gettysburg, Pa. One of the Philosophy professors teaching at the college I attend lives on the other side of the alley. I'm still pretty new around here, but was happy to find out that she and a couple other profs make an effort to trap these cute wild kitties and get them fixed--and returning them to the wild. Because there are a lot of young students here, there's a lot of cats just being let outdoors and left (they either move back home, or lose interest in their pet after he or she is no longer a cute kitten). I just wanted to see if anyone else lives in a neighborhood like this, and also to put up a few links, if anyone's interested in helping feral cat populations.
