I remember when I was 9, my parents would leave me in the car while they would run into the store. The moment they were in the door, I would put one of Richard's tapes in, and laugh.
Looking back on it now, I never thought about the racial element. For me, it was just a black man talking about the differences between people. What color our skin was, or how we acted to each other wasn't important (at least to me) I just loved listening to this funny motherfucker.
I remember my mother and me driving to the other side of town, looking for a music store, just so she could find one of his concert tapes. On the way home, she put it in for us to listen to. I couldn't tell you what he was sayin, all I remember now is that I was in the floor of the car, laughing my ass off, and my mom finally took it out cause she thought a 9 year old shouldn't be laughing at this raunchy, nasty stuff.
I remember going with my parents to the movies, seeing 'Stir Crazy', 'Silver Streak', all the Gene Wilder & Richard Pryor movies. Again, then I never thought about what color who's skind was, just the (mis)adventures of these two CRAZY guys.
Richard, you are one of the comedy gods of this world. You belong up there with Robin, Sam, and Redd. Don't give up, never give in.

Re: Memories
BobbyB,
Sam Who???? You're not talking about the screamer are you?
Personally, Ricahard is in a league of his own. Redd is the only one that could hang with the man and make him blush.....in other words, tell the truth.
It's all good BobbyB-
Vee! :p ;p
