i could recite his jokes when i was in elementary school...

richard pryor challenged us to rethink ourselves in relation to our individual and collective worlds. he's so raw and unique, i don't think he even knew he was challenging us. he took responsibility for it nonetheless.

sure, he was no mother theresa (insert mothafucka joke here)...but he was a legend even while he was still alive.

my heart goes out to richard pryor.

for me, he sums up the american dream.

nygizak,
B-)
I went to Zimbabwe. I know how white people feel in America now; relaxed! Cause when I heard the police car I knew they weren't coming after me!

nygizak,
So true for myself also! In 7th grade, late 70's, I grew up in a conservative family and had to listen to my Richard Pryor albums (kept hiding under bed) in the closet with my headphones on...I would laugh into a pillow to keep quiet! Geez I am glad I learned to laugh outside the closet!!
