He walked with his head up high
looked you straight in the eye
was taught to be a God fearin' man
to have a little class
not to judge too fast
nor, be afraid to ask
Got to be one of the chosen few
cause we are all
just a passin' thru'
He was born
a rich man's son
reachin' an grabbin'
spendin' an laughin'
always cryin'
wouldn't lend you a dime
and when he left
he never knew
we are all
just a passin' thru'
He was a big man in politics
had a bag full of tricks
he invites you to the feast
flashes you his liar's teeth
he reveled in his forune an fame
all the money that came
and all that he owned
but, when he left
he left alone
and he knew that
we all are
just a passin' thru'
